International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation

International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation is a United Nations-sponsored annual awareness day that takes place on February 6 as part of the UN’s efforts to eradicate female genital mutilation. It was first introduced in 2003.

About 125 million women and girls are living in 29 countries such as Africa and the Middle East, with female genital mutilation.

This is a serious discrimination against women.

It is torture and cruel and inhumane degrading treatment.

In 2012, the United Nations was trying to eliminate this and create awareness. The council announced this Day.
