National Salt Satyagraha Memorial
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated National Salt Satyagraha Memorial to the nation at Dandi village, situated in South Gujarat on Arabian sea coast.
The Salt Satyagraha March, well known as the Dandi March of 1930 has been a landmark event in the history of India’s freedom struggle.
It was on this day, as a part of the Civil Disobedience Movement against the British rule, 80 Satyagrahis led by Mahatma Gandhi marched 241-miles from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad to the coastal village of Dandi and made salt from seawater breaking the Salt Law imposed by the British.

In Tamil Nadu, women electors outnumber their male counterparts by more than five lakh 82 thousand, as the final electors list was unveiled in Chennai.

The United States is shivering in a deadly cold snap known as a polar vortex. Temperatures fell to minus 30 degree Celsius in Chicago, colder than parts of Antarctica and minus 37 degree Celsius in North Dakota.

The US has announced a new H-1B visa filing rule from April under which priority would be given to foreign workers with advanced degrees from American universities.

A single Chinese woman has asked the law makers to legalise children of unmarried women to tide over the problem of low fertility rate haunting China, the world’s most populous nation, after the number of new-borns dropped by two million last year despite the government permitting two children since 2016.

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of another 4,78,670 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The approval was given in the 42ndmeeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held in New Delhi.
