The income ceiling has been increased for people belonging to socially and economically backward classes to avail reservation benefits in employment and education. It has been raised from present from 4.5 lakh to 8 lakh rupees.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation of six road projects worth 6,000 crore rupees in border areas of Jodhpur.

Egypt opens West Asia’s largest cathedral

Egypt has opened West Asia’s largest cathedral in its New Administrative Capital, 45 kilometres east of Cairo. President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated the newly-built Cathedral of Nativity and also a mosque.

Saudi women to get divorce notices over text
In Saudi Arabia, a new regulation is set to stop Saudi women from not knowing about their own divorce. Courts will be required to notify women by text on rulings confirming their divorces.

Sheikh Hasina was sworn in as Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third consecutive. It is Hasina’s fourth term in office.

Women’s Science Congress
Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani has inaugurated the Women’s Science Congress at the Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar. Women’s Science Congress is a part of of the 106th Indian Science Congress. This is the eighth chapter of the Women’s Science Congress since it started in 2012.

The objective of the Women’s Science Congress is to showcase the work of women scientists.

Government allocates Rs 10,900 cr for development of 40 satellite launch vehicles in next 4-years
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Dr K Sivan has said that the Union Government has allocated 10,900 crore rupees for the development of 40 satellite launch vehicles in the next four years.

Textiles Awards
The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu conferred awards on 17 persons for their outstanding contribution in different fields of textiles sector in New Delhi. During the ceremony he was presented commemorative stamps on GI registered handicrafts.
